Sheboygan Area School District Honored by NEW Manufacturing Alliance
The Sheboygan Area School District was recognized by the NEW Manufacturing Alliance at their fifth annual Excellence in Manufacturing/K-12 Partnership Awards.
The Sheboygan Area School District was recognized with the "Education Innovation" award for Red Raider Manufacturing. The $5 Million intial investment for Red Raider Manufacturing had a significant portion (84%) come from local employers. It is a partnership with local manufacurers providing many students with the skills employers in that field are looking for. Industry will now have a larger pool of skilled workers that have practical, hands-on learning experiences.
Central High School teacher Mary Leonard, was honored with the "Career Pathmaker" educator award. Mary has been instrumental in the success of Central High School's Early College program. She has helped open doors of opportunity to her students. Her involvement in Project GRILL is just one example of her determination to help students learn a trade and develop skills beyond high school.
South High School counselor Steve Schneider also received an Honorable Mention at the awards ceremony for his involvement in Red Raider Manufacuring and college and career planning.
