Construction starts on pollution controls at Sheboygan coal plant
Construction has begun on a pollution control project at a coal plant in Sheboygan, a Madison utility notified state regulators on Monday.
Construction of the environmental scrubbers started Monday for the Wisconsin Power and Light Co. project, the utility said.
The state Public Service Commission approved the $417 million project last year.
The work is expected to create 400 construction jobs at the peak of the project, the utility said. Wisconsin Power & Light is a subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corp.
