SHEBOYGAN, WI — The Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) and Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at UW-Green Bay aim to provide a wide variety of services, resources, and expertise to help encourage entrepreneurial opportunities in Sheboygan County, including businesses that offer unique services and experiences to the community such as Sheboygan’s new fitness center and personal training facility, Rise Fitness.

Rise Fitness offers a secure 24- hour fitness center, state-of-the-art equipment, retail food and beverage options, handicap accessibility, shower, participation in insurance plans such as United HealthCare One Pass Commercial and Network Health, 24/7 monitored security, lockers, field turf area, TRX suspension trainers, rear parking lot and on-street parking.

Spouses Dena and John Wagner started Rise Fitness two years ago in an 11x14 space. Now, with the assistance of the SCEDC and SBDC, Rise Fitness operates in a space three times as large, allowing them to fulfill the original mission of providing the Sheboygan community with 24/7 gym access, Private Personal Training, Partner Training, and Nutrition Coaching to promote healthy, lifelong habits.

“Both myself and John have overcome hardships and developed our relationship with the mentality to “rise above” from the start,” said Dena. “The name Rise Fitness, with the sub name, “It’s Personal” is a representation of who we are; raw, real, individuals who fiercely never back down from a challenge.”

John and Dena hope to help their members combat diseases and health issues they face by including fitness as a part of their health care plan. “Our passion lies within what we offer,” said Dena. “Collectively, we have 20 years of experience. We both bring a different set of skills with how we train clients and we both have personal experiences for why fitness has impacted us. Bringing positivity and support to everyone we encounter isn’t just what we do, it’s who we are.”

Rise Fitness is hosting a Grand Opening at their location 1431 N. 8th Street in Sheboygan on July 16, 2022.  The event, starting at 11:00 am, will offer food and beverages, a tour of the space, and a ribbon cutting at around 12:30 pm.

“The SCEDC was exponentially helpful when planning the steps necessary to grow,” said Dena. “Ray York met with us in person, helped us identify what to expect when applying for an SBA loan, helped navigate the steps in creating a business plan, provided resource templates, grant resources, and provided continuous support before, during and still today as we finalize the steps in the project completion. We would recommend any new or existing business owner to take advantage of the free resources the SCEDC provides. It will enable you to develop stronger skills as a business owner, relationships within the community, and a platform to grow.
