Electric Service Providers in Sheboygan County
Sheboygan County offers a reliable and competitive electric utility infrastructure, with four electric service providers, including two publicly owned utilities and two investor-owned utilities.
The county is supported by more than 20 electrical substations and multiple high-voltage transmission lines, along with two power plants located within the county. This robust infrastructure provides businesses with reliable power and, in many areas, opportunities for redundant power service, an important advantage for manufacturers and other energy-intensive operations.

Power Generation
Sheboygan County has a strong power-generation infrastructure that supports businesses and communities throughout the region. Alliant Energy operates power-generation facilities in the county, including the Edgewater Generating Station in Sheboygan and a natural gas-fired power station in Sheboygan Falls.
The Edgewater Generating Station has a generation capacity of 812 MW and historically served customers throughout the northeastern portion of Alliant Energy’s Wisconsin service territory, as well as several local municipal utilities.
Alliant Energy also operates a 295 MW natural gas-fired power station in Sheboygan Falls, providing additional generation capacity within the county.
Transmission Lines
Sheboygan County is served by a robust high-voltage transmission network operated by American Transmission Company (ATC). The county has three 345 kV transmission lines, three 138 kV lines, and one 69 kV line, providing access to a reliable regional power grid.
