Downtown Housing Overview
The City of Sheboygan and SCEDC recognize the need for market-rate apartments in Downtown Sheboygan. Many young professionals and empty-nesters would like to reside within walking distance of the waterfront and riverfront, art centers, restaurants and pubs, and special events in Downtown Sheboygan.
The SCEDC recently completed a multi-family housing study indicating the area has a 0.4% market-rate apartment vacancy rate, with only 13 available units. Click here to read the executive summary. Contact the SCEDC office to receive the full study.
In 2016-2017 we expect to see the development of 220 rental units in downtown Sheboygan. We are now encouraging the development of owner-occupied condominiums and town homes in and near downtown Sheboygan.
